Instructor Profile

John Wallis R.P.F., graduated from U.B.C. in 1986, with a BSc in Forestry.  John started his forestry career working for Interfor at Adam’s Lake, where he gained broad operational experience working as a forester completing development and silviculture activities. John remains active in the field as a forestry consultant focusing on silviculture activities.

John has been an instructor involved in the development of key silviculture survey and soil disturbance courses since 1992, offering educational programs for the Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations, B.C. Timber Sales, first nations, universities and colleges, and various consultants and forest companies.

John remains current in forestry through his work with provincial government specialists, company foresters and technicians, and with other consultants, as well as through his review of relevant current publications.

Recent training-related projects that John has been active with include the review of the Silviculture Survey Procedures manual, and Silviculture Survey Accreditation exam. He has also reviewed and updated training materials, including those for the "What's New" course.
